margaret_s. 0 Posted October 15, 2003 Ah Piotr... another beauty except for that... aaaargh... black hole on the right! :( It's just too darn dark and takes up a pretty large portion of your image. There's something to be said about leaving certain "shadows" up to the imagination.. but (imo only) it's overpowering. On the positive side, the colors on the left with what almost looks like a gradient from the straw tone all the way into this purplish tone is breathtakingly beautiful! I wouldn't mind so much if the image gradually melted into some heavy shadows as long as it didn't almost suddenly drop off into this (almost) complete darkness. And don't tell me my monitor is too dark.. lol... ;-) Link to comment
koval 0 Posted October 15, 2003 NO ..Your monitor is not set wrongly :) It is a pitch dark side..I think I could 've done better - exposure was v long about 25 sec..the side had no bouncing light and only one side had a litlle bit ...so it was prytty tricky ..anyway ..the way it fades to black and the proportions of blackness are not too good. lars raun 0 Posted October 15, 2003 I like dark images, but I think this one needs a stronger focal point. Also, the thin brighter line above the treeline looks artificial. I really like the light in the water. Its beautiful. Link to comment
dym_1 0 Posted October 15, 2003 I agree with Margaret, the image is way too dark and takes up a lot of space on the photo. Nothing wrong with my monitor either (I even turned up the contrast and brightness). Otherwise it would be a excellent picture. Link to comment
margaret_s. 0 Posted October 15, 2003 Oh.. I didn't realize it was such a long exposure. That explains why it was tricky then, seeing that you had low-light to begin with. I tried to play around with the idea of cropping but I haven't come up with anything satisfying. Too bad.. the left side of the image is great. Link to comment

thomas_breazeale1 0 Posted October 16, 2003 Having spent over a year in the Krakow area I can really appreciate images like this.Your green tones are superb but must agree with others about the right side...just too imposing. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted October 16, 2003 Piotr, I'm really enjoying your landscapes. As others have noted, the right side is dark, but the rest of this is perfect. Link to comment
