And there it is, as only you seem to consistently be able to do... the creation of an entity with personality from some banal justaposition of inanimate objects.

Think about it -- Taken from almost any other angle than this one, the affect of the elongated neck, head, and wings, would not be evident.  You SAW this, and you framed it accordingly so that the rest of us could see it.  That's a fricking gift, Jack.

Thanks for your comment on this and my other pictures. Personally I think this is a very odd contrivance and as a picture a kind of a what the hell moment. I think in the past it might have done much better or at least received a few more comments. But photonet seems to have morphed into a site where the odd, the mysterious, the challenging and those pictures such as your own that illuminate our ordinary, everyday world have been elbowed out by the centerfold picture, the aesthetically beautiful but safe and often vapid image. If you take a look at the gallery "Daily Sampling of our Members Work" in the PN galleries, you can see what I mean. It's high end stuff, generally very professional, usually gorgeous and always impeccably polished. Also largely boring. It seems to sit there waiting to be admired and really what else is there to say but "beautiful" or "very nice". I've never seen one of your photos there, not Drew's, not Niels Christian Roe's, not Markku Salonen, nor many other creative photographers who I think have an original point of view and present really individual work. I don't think you'll find one of mine there any time soon, either The energy level is way down on pn as is the interaction between photographers. So many of the old members have left, people whose work I always anticipated viewing. I'm kind of isolated from creative stimulation over here in Japan so the sorry state of this site is rather discouraging I think I hang around more out of habit than anything else. Thanks again for the comment and sorry for the rant. Best regards, Jack
