Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 3, 2016 Large view preferred. In touristy Cartagena, even the Old City is peppered with new construction made to appear old. This detail of a building, captured from atop Cartagena's protective wall, captures some detail of old Spanish Colonial architecture. Your comments are appreciated and valued. Larry Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 3, 2016 Bela, Thanks for your visit and comment. One of the aspects of this building is that the structural beams are extended to allow the functional construction to also be a part of the beauty of the structure. The color is quite authentic, not oversaturated. I value your comment. Larry Link to comment
lynnemass 10 Posted June 4, 2016 Lovely. I especially like that you can see right through the center window to the tree branch outside. That pulls the viewer's eye through the image. Link to comment
Sandy Vongries 34,386 Posted June 4, 2016 Very nice shot, colors and geometry. You are an intrepid fellow, I would hesitate before venturing to Columbia. Amusing though, I can't hear Cartagena without flashing back to Romancing the Stone. Best, Sandy Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 5, 2016 Lynne, Thanks for your viewing my images. You comment about the open window in the rear is what drew me to this image. The see-through vision defines the image's impact for me, although I also really like the architecture. Thanks, again. Larry Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 5, 2016 Sandy, Thanks for your visit and comment. I wouldn't hesitate to visit Colombia. What we hear is lots of hype that is not true. Colombia is as safe as any other South American country. We felt safe in the reputedly unsafe places like Medellin, the headquarters of the drug cartel of yesteryear. Tourism is the third largest industry in Colombia and is growing. Cartagena felt less safe than other places because of all the tourism. Also, the people in Colombia are most friendly and helpful. It helps to speak a little Spanish as this allows for speaking with the locals. Great place. I recommend it. Larry Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted June 5, 2016 Larry this image and it's colors and style truly capture the vibe and transport the viewer into the place. It's images like this and the one with the boy in the doorway that communicate your thoughts and feelings about the places you visit. Good work and thanks for sharing these images with us.Best Regards, Holger Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 8, 2016 Holger, Yours is the best kind of comment because it gets right at the core of visioning and trying to create images that have feeling, emotion, and impact. I consider your input a great compliment. We all need this kind of feedback to fuel ourselves as we create images. Thanks, again. Larry Link to comment
