On a totally unrelated, but closely related topic, this was a fitting metaphor to Kobe Bryant's last season with the Lakers.

Who cares about Kobe when Steph and the Warriors are in the finals. I've been following them all season. Hell of a team.

Going all Nebuchadnezzar on you, Kobe saw the, ahem, handwriting on the wall, and threw in his lot with the new King long ago. He sought out Draymond Green and told him back in November that the Warriors should go for the record, then after they went down 3-1 to the Thunder, Kobe sent texts to Draymond again urging him to rally the troops. Kobe is in the role of Belshazzar, son of Nebuchadnezzar, and Draymond is in the role of Daniel. From the Bible itself, Daniel 5:25:

“This is the inscription that was written:

mene, mene, tekel, parsin

26 “Here is what these words mean:

Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.

27 Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

28 Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

29 Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.

30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain,31 and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two."

Long Live the New King!
