This is a somewhat iconic view of Buttermere in the UK Lake District, but I think this

might be the best light I've captured yet at this location.

You've done it again Alf. Very beautiful image, the light hitting the mountain top is great as is the reflection. The tree as a focal point fits well into the overall composition. Good balance and depth, a winner.

Good work ALF, I like the clouds reaching out to us and you picked a good time of day, the differences in lighting is well, well done

This picture has a serene beauty that captivates me. Indeed, the lighting  is perfect, you've got very good exposure, a nice composition and wonderful colors.
Your landscapes are the best!

Kind Regards,

Rosario.

I'm beginning to question your deity; the sun, clouds, tree lines, grass, heck, even the lake is mirror smooth and, to top it off, this beleaguered tree has put out new growth; all for you.  I must say you did the scene proud.  Gorgeous... Mike

Hi Alf,   This is another amazing image.  Although a terrific wide angle, you manage to frame in the tree almost as if it were a telephoto shot.  How well you considered and used the foreground.  This shows how important visioning the foreground and entire image is.  Also,  you certainly used those jet streams to your advantage.  Wonderful image.   Larry

Excellent! A scene like this excites me for many reasons, one of which is that you have a very good composition and you have captured it expertly.

If I had the option I would have stayed here for an hour working the scene as the light changed with many different compositions. The light on the right side would have caught my attention and motivated me to go to the right side of your location and a little closer to the water to get the right side mountain reflection.

Please remember that these would be all of the subsequent shots to this masterpiece.

All the best,

The dawn light was very kind to me, and although it threatened to be very bright day, the brightest of the light was still obscured by the distant mountain!  Many Thanks!

The Nikon 14 - 24 mm is a brilliant wide angle lens, and it often adds so much in terms of dynamics to an image. The jet streams in particular are a good example of this.  A good tip when using a tripod is to walk around with just the camera first looking through the viewfinder until you find a position you like, and only then attach the camera to the tripod!  I know it might sound obvious to some, but it can make a big difference in terms of your composition if you don't already practice this technique.

Sincere Thanks!

Many Thanks for your thoughts and observations, very much appreciated!

I stayed at this location for perhaps 15 - 20 minutes taking different shots, but I had 3 other locations around the lake to cover as well as another lake that was within walking distance.  The biggest problem at this time of year is the limited time available with good light, 2 hours perhaps if you are very lucky!  I did take many more images from all locations, hopefully I will get to post some in the near future.

Best Regards

It's a bit of a journey all the way up here just for a few hours, in fact I spent more time travelling than taking photo's, but it's such an amazing place, I can't resist it : - )

Sincere Thanks

I finally found the time to comment on your latest masterpiece...The sound of nature is always the best sound !. You have captured an image so masterfully, at the right time of day, that is truly very invading. I am really impressed by the impact of the foreground, The whole scene gives the impression that one is really there !

Very well seen my Friend !

Thank You for your kind words! I know just how busy you are, all that food preparation takes time : - )

I think it is always the best compliment one can get is when a viewer gets the "impression one is really there"

I hope you enjoyed the air show I shall look forward to seeing the resulting photographs!

Best Regards Always my friend!

Orchestral manoeuvres, indeed . . .  As Jack noted, this image easily could be seen as a symphony.  I prefer to view it as a tone poem.  Unlike a musical composition, however, the tones are different colors, different gradations of luminosity, and various degrees of sharpness.  Like an orchestral piece, as Jack also noted, an indispensable element - you, the photographer, read the score and provide the direction so that the various tones and other elements (analogs of key and rhythm changes, bridges, dynamics, etc.) ultimately come together successfully.  In particular, the mountains on either side point to the coda, i.e., lead the viewer's eye to the mountains in the background.

Bravo, Maestro!  I can listen to this piece of music over and over.

My best always,

michael

Humble Apologies for my late response!

Thank you so much for your interpretation, and for taking the time to look and comment.

Nature is the true master of this symphony, I can but try and find a way to show it through a camera lens.

My Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

Alf
