While out shooting recently I came across a fire which had destroyed a

warehouse and attached garage. Even in the devastation there was a

certain tragic beauty.

It's surprising to me that the yellow diamonds show no apparent effects of the blaze.  They add nice accents of color, and I especially like how they echo the diamonds and diagonals in the surrounding charred areas.

Thanks for your response to this picture. I was quite surprised to come across these burned buildings sitting as exposed as they were. Usually in Japan scenes like this are carefully sealed off from the public but for some reason this one was open. Bad luck for the owner of these buildings but good luck for a wandering photographer. That's the way it goes; it's an ill wind that blows no good. Mark, I agree with you about the diamond tiles. They seem to have survived with little damage and provide a fortunate focal point amidst all the charred rubble.
