neil cowley - visual artis 0 Posted October 13, 2003 Interesting use of filter. Try an unsharp mask with a radius of 20px or so, with an intensity of 20-30% to bring out some contrast in the blurry areas. Link to comment
michael_ritchie 0 Posted October 16, 2003 What a great shot, I always tend to overlook the smaller aspects of a scene and go straight for the bigger picture. Photo's like this inspire me to get down on my hands and knees and check out what's going inside the scene. Link to comment
alan chan 0 Posted October 16, 2003 Eric, can you tell me want lens you used for D60 please ? I am wondering is a little increase of contrast would deliver a stronger image ? Just a thought :) Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted October 17, 2003 Alan - This is shot with a 70-200 @ 200mm wide open (f/2.8). No filters - just using the shallow DOF to my advantage. Yes, it could probably use a little more contrast at least for web presentation, but I tend towards caution in these matters. Thanks, Eric Link to comment
root 0 Posted October 24, 2003 The spot just above center is especially nice. . . . makes the shot. Link to comment

sheenaghantonis 0 Posted October 4, 2004 This is my favourite image of yours. Really strong. Beautiful colours and strong pattern. Where does the blue colour come from? Link to comment
peter_wang6 0 Posted October 7, 2004 I am very partial to this one...it is all about the feelings it evokes. The absence of a specific locale gives the impression of total accessibility, as if beauty such as this could be found anywhere if you look closely enough. I do wish the edges were a bit sharper though; it seems like there's some blue fringing in the foreground but whether that's due to lens/camera effects, or focus, or whether I'm just seeing things, I cannot tell. But I would say I like this one the best out of the 40-odd photos in your portfolio. It takes me somewhere. Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted October 8, 2004 Thanks folks. Sheenagh: the blue comes form the refraction of light through out of focus droplets of due. Peter: thanks for your insightful comments. I've honestly considered this photo (and a few others like it that I have) as more or less purely decorative. I'll have to rethink. Thanks, Eric Link to comment
