Princess Dress

Grandma made Iris a Princess dress. I asked her if I could take a

picture of her so she ran over to this spot and posed (with

sunglasses, of course).

I can pick out your work immediately. There is a consistency of viewpoint and subject matter that runs through all your pictures. In a way you remind me of Marjolein M., a member who is no longer active but did absolutely top quality work photographing her children and family members, her household and her immediate surroundings. Her approach was quite different from yours but equally expressive and honest. Your grand daughter seems a natural model and the assured pose and sunglasses show that she has definitely developed a real sense of style even at her age.

Thanks for your comment Jack.  I know Marjolein as well, and we are friends on facebook.  I guess I am lucky to have a photogenic family!  Like you I tend to photograph my surroundings, and a lot of the time its what's going on in my home. 

 

I think you understand well, as I do, that its not about spending time and money traveling to far off exotic places in order to get good photos, but more of an exercise of expanding one's awareness to see the amazing beauty and visually stimulating world that abounds in one's immediate surroundings.
