A buoy is attached to each of the traps dropped in deep waters;color

and markings identify the owner and location is set by GPS. Thank you

Laurent,

We are fascinated with your series with these trappers! We often wonder how they make a living with such a short season and the obvious huge investment involved.

The snow crab was ''discovered'' locally in the mid-70's and has made wealthy and continues to keep at ease all/most of those whom were at the onset of this industry. As with other types of fishing, the industry limits the number of permits which with the rigs are normally passed on to the next generation and so on.Newcomers having to support the purchase of a permit and rig need to diversify and turn to other type of fishing such as schrimp once the crab quotas have been reached.

All these boats left port at 4h00 AM on Friday 22nd Apr and we should be able to have fresh crab to enjoy by Monday 25th Apr.

Meilleures salutations-Laurent
