Every November for about 5 days - horses are allowed on Myrtle

Beach. People sponsor the riders with proceeds going to the

American Heart Association. There were quite a few riders, we had

to watch out for droppings and very hard walking the beach because

of all the footprints - but we took it in stride as it was for an excellent

cause.

A beautiful capture . Focus and dof are spot on and the composition is perfect leaving plenty of room in front . Reds always attract and this is no exception . Excellent ! Bill

Great focus and clarity Gail. Not something you see everyday so it has the unique flavor as well. The details come through nicely when viewed large.

Sincere thanks for your thoughts shared on this image.  When I took it I really didn't think much about the POV, as it was an impromptu shot, but I am glad now that I was standing where I was at the time!

Thanks Tony. I'm glad I was out when this man went by!! Not often I'm there when something really interesting is going on.  :)  It was rough seas all that week, jelly fish covering the beach every morning.

A very interesting story. I like to hear the story  behind this  story,  why  it has  to be a beach ride  at  the edge  of the  water?  What the sea  and the beach  doing, or  representing on this  occasion,  or, it  is  just a simple  joyride  somebody invented a vile  ago  and  become a traditional  ride  for  some charity  event? Btw, it  is a nice photograph too.

Thank you  for the explanation.

My first impression was that this man, like Daffy Duck in "Duck Amuck" was cursed with a mean spirited cartoonist who gave him the clothes and equipment of the range, but painted him into an embarrassing background that makes him look silly.

We were very surprised when we saw so many horses on the beach.  Especially when they were 'leaving presents' behind and no one was 'scooping'.  When we spoke to someone about it they were not worried. They kind of figured the tide would take anything out and what difference would it make in all that water???  Apparently people come with their horses to a Campgrounds that is right on the Beach. It is a Weekend event with Entertainment, Vendors etc. They ride out onto the beach from the Campgrounds. It is the only time in the year - this 20 mile walk that horses are allowed on the Beach and they raise quite a bit of money for the American Heart Association(Heart Attacks, Strokes etc.).  we found it very difficult to walk along the shore as the horses hooves made such deep impressions in the sand you could easily turn or break an ankle - so we decided to just watch. They are expecting over 100 riders in November of 2016. Thanks so much for dropping by Bela!

It is an odd setting but it was interesting.  This man kept looking down at the sand - I don't know what he was looking for! A lot of people participate.
