Great Shot, Diane. Seeing as you ask for suggestions ~ you have the horizon dead centre of the shot, and you have a great sky here.  I'd seriously suggest cropping the image from the bottom to  almost a 16 x9 ( "panoramic" )  format. Say to the bottom of the first piece of scrub. It looses some of the expanse of brown at the bottom, moves the horizon away from the centre line, puts emphasis on the sky, and I think gives a greater feeling of depth Just a suggestion, its a great shot as it is. Rgds Rick.

Rick,

Thanks for the suggestion..... I never would have thought about a panorama crop.  That's one of the things I like about PNet.... different eyes with LOTS more experience than I have.

Here is the same shot with your suggested crop....

Diane. I like both of these, in fact my preference would be the second. However bear in mind that is very much a personal preference ~ others would well think differently. The format and the fact that the horizon is less central gives a greater sense of space. The original is a great image and in the end it is down to you and the "story" that you want the  image to convey. Never the less well done. Rgds. Rick

Rick,

I actually like the second shot better as well, but when I saw the first one, the storm clouds were so much better!  There haven't been many times that I didn't want some blue sky :)
