Jack McRitchie 150 Posted April 6, 2016 This is a great one, Steve. You always seem to capture a kind of no nonsense honesty in your pictures where all artifice falls away. I'll put this one in my favorites. Link to comment
sjmurray 33,529 Posted April 6, 2016 I posted this one in 2004 but it was smaller and didn't do justice to the original. I went back to the scan of the 35mm black and white negative and made this one. Probably shot on the last roll of 35mm film I shot before going digital. My earlier post states: I used a home brew Vitamin C/phenidone variation of Pat Gainer's formulations. Very fine grained. Link to comment
sjmurray 33,529 Posted April 6, 2016 Thanks Jack. I remember I was testing a roll of film to try with some home made developer. Jenny was in her room and I asked her to come down and sit on the landing by the window for a minute so I could get some test shots. This was the first shot on the roll. Link to comment
chris_panagiotidis 0 Posted May 2, 2016 This is an amazing portrait! Technically superb , it doesn't only grab viewer's attention but gets what it merits: a long , extended view. The model's intense gaze fights with the technical superiority of the photo. A duel fortunately with no winner... Link to comment
amysn 0 Posted October 23, 2016 I'm not one to stop and comment on portraits, but this one is truly striking and lovely. The direct look, the natural and unpolished wardrobe and hair, the lighting and gray tones, so soft. All combined, its a beautiful photo but also a very strong portrait - the woman comes through (intelligent, unpretentious, feminine). Truly lovely, great work. Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted November 4, 2017 Just the kind of portrait I always wanted to shoot. It somehow looks not like an artefact (as a photograph) but like the real thing (the person). Admired. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 22, 2019 Hi Steve, I've stumbled on to this gorgeous portrait just now. I think it is of an absolutely outstanding quality of true beauty. This portrait is so direct, natural and genuine, that very few other attempts would come close. Very, very well done. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
