Shot on a recent trek to Annapurna Base Camp. My roommate had a bad

cough, so we were both awake way before sunrise. Even then, the

porters and cooks probably beat us by half an hour.

The image was taken with my tiny RRS table top tripod and a big

boulder at the side of the trail. There are various versions of this

image. Right now, this one is my favorite. I like the blue sky and the

band of pre-dawn light competing with the few electric lights in and

between the houses.

Thanks for looking, and your comments/suggestions are always welcome,

You've captured the atmosphere of a pre-dawn start perfectly. I like the contrast of civilization/wild mt., the leading lines of light are also effective. One niggle I have is the distortion in the closer buildings which I assume is from a tilted shot at wide angle. If you have Photoshop you might want to try some manual work with vertical perspective in the lens correction filter. I might also crop a bit off the top.

Jim, you are correct, I used a 7mm wide angle lens, pointed upward. I had to place it on a rock using a small table-top tripod. Corrections in PS go only so far. Maybe using the DxO correction tools would work better, but here is a quick adjustment in ACR.

Thank you for your comments. I always appreciate it when folks make suggestions. Often I didn't even think about those points.

Wide lens worked properly here, creating great mood. Blue light strip is a great find and touch. Original shot is more to my liking.

Thank you Vjacheslav,

I think I am with you on the distortion. I don't mind the tilted windows that much, but miss the stronger perspective in the footpath in the "corrected" version. But then, I only spent about five minutes on it. Some more effort might yield a more pleasant composition.

In any case, I always appreciate comments and suggestions because they give me new ideas, show how other photographers see my images, and encourage me to try out new things. I really appreciate the time it takes to comment on people's images beyond the easy "great shot" remark.
