A little experimenting in PS Elements to capture an old film style

image. Your thoughts and comments as to how to improve upon that

are always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Like the effect with subtle colours and what looks like film grain, especially in the sky, gives a different finish to the image. Perhaps just rotate a little anticlockwise to straighten the horizon and give the image more impact. Like the path leading to the solitary figure who adds interest and a good focal point. I've not seen New York from this view point and it looks so different, very well done. Best regards Ken.

Well done, Holger. I agree with Ken about the horizon. I'm not familiar with the old film effect, so I have no opinion about that. Maybe more grain and b/w?

Thanks guys for looking and the great comments. I can't believe I overlooked straightening the image prior to posting. This view is from Port Monmouth NJ looking across the Raritan Bay. Brooklyn on the right and Manhattan behind the Verrazano Bridge. Thanks again.

It's always refreshing to come upon a picture with an original point of view. Here Manhattan plays only a cameo role but one that adds a lot of interest. Ken's comment about the horizon is right. This is something that could be easily corrected.

It's truly a beautiful view. I'm not a NY expert, but for me it's indeed an unseen view until today. The contrast, even in tones, of this rough road on the foreground to the urban landscape at the background with the wandering human figure at the middle provides an extra emotional feel to it.
