Jim; This is certainly an interesting subject, and potentially very engaging. My eye wants to follow the line of the steps to a destination, which is cut-off. The two statues might be framed differently to create a portal through which the stairs pass, while still allowing the stairs to take us to a destination. Alternatively, you could fill the frame with one of the figures, and allow the stairs to fade into the background. From what I can see it appears the stairs are flanked by two dragons. You could use a long telephoto to compress one or another of these and get the full effect of their fascinating details. The colors, textures, and exposure of this image are very good. I think some alternate compositions would make for a powerful and engaging image. Keep working it.

David,

Thanks for your detailed thoughts on this image. There is another image in this folder (http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18197488) with a different POV. The main temple complex was up on the top of the hill and the only parking here was on the shoulder of the road. I snapped the two images in a matter of seconds without giving appropriate thought to them. One of the travails of travel photography I suppose. Thanks again for the helpful thoughts. Jim

I like the shot Jim. I was kind of wanting to see better detail in the dragon and cat (?). A good POV.  I imagine there are time restraints depending how you are travelling as well???
