From this different angle I may see how different the cemetery is from the portuguese ones...here all are surrounded by a wall and closed with a gate...

In our rural areas,it seems that our ancestors always chose a choice place in the village for the church and reserved an also special place for the resting place of those departed.Traditionally,the cemeteries are not fenced save for the symbolic picket fence bordering the road leaving free access for family and visitors to drop by anytime to pay their respect.
