Sam; I like this composition and presentation very much, particularly the textures and materiality in the stone wall and pavers. I could wish the highlights were not quite so bright. On my monitor, at least, they feel blown out. The contrast between the stone cobbles and the wall, as compared to the refined materials in the buildings. is also engaging. Well done.

thank you very much for your thoughtful critique & kind comments.

yes, especially the top part of the image shows blown-out areas due to the low-standng sun.

IMO the conundrum under such conditions is whether a photo always should show more than the naked eye....

wearing a pair of polaroid sunglasses, usually you don't see blown-outs are.

I didn't use a polaroid filter on the lens.

drawing with a pencil on paper, blown-outs can also be avoided.

every technique has its pros & cons.

that's my two cents.
