Just I don't know why all that grain! Maybe a film camera was used? Very interesting composition by the rules! The straight line of the aqueduct and the curved line of the road unite and point to the righ

thank Heavens! it's a composition "by the rules" !

the graininess is caused by kind off over-processing with Tonality software in order to get a bit more contrast in greyscale.

the original (in RAW) was shot at about mid-day when a cloudless sky & fierce summer sun caused a rather 'flat' image. 

doing travel photography, you can't go back when light is better, it's a one time opportunity & you have to live with the results - come hell or high water from the critiquers.
