Driving out to a friend's ranch yesterday with a much needed

rainstorm moving in. One tree, by itself. I have tried this shot a

couple of different times, another in this folder. So far, I think I like

this one best. Comments, criticism appreciated.

Hi Sandy. Think you are seeing this just right with this version, the composition and framing are great and the single tree makes a good subject. I just feel the image is too dark and the lack of light and colour hides a lot of the detail. I've just played around with it (hope you don't mind) and added some light and colour, though the file is a low resolution one so I could only go so far with it, but with adding light and colour there's lots more detail and interest. Best regards Ken.

Ken, thanks! The day was rapidly turning gray as we drove north into the coming rain.

The camera is set up for Large / Fine  / JPG.

For the first time ever on this jaunt, I got a "Full" message, and had to format the card in the second slot on the fly as I hadn't brought my bag, just the camera with lens.

For whatever reason, the D 750 doesn't give me as nice color rendition as the DF.

Sandy; If you are shooting JPG's, what Picture Control settings are you using? That could make a big difference (as I'm sure you know). I find I sometimes select Portrait, and then forget to go back to Vivid or Landscape when I am done. I still need to learn to use the U1 and U2 settings.

In this image, my eye wants to see this tree more skylined. Is there an angle that will allow this? I like this one. It reminds me of so many days on the Western prairie, with storm clouds and thunder rolling in. Very evocative. I think Ken's suggestions also make sense.
