Black and white version of the previous image. I'm wondering if this version is more

appealing to you as a documentary photo? Comments and feedback requested and

always sincerely appreciated.

Personally I find this version a little more to my liking. The heat waves and the whole scene are nightmare material, this looks like a long wait. I would say well documented David. Good work.

B&W realli has a better feeling, very good documentary shot>  I would rotate ir clockwise a few degrees though to make it better.

Holger; thank you for your interest and comments. They are appreciated. This didn't turn out too badly. Less than an hour's wait, temperatures were cool, and it helped that we were near the front. The telephoto compression is very enhanced by this crop, and by the heat shimmer.

BBG; I'm glad you like this one. The road actually has a bit of a slope down to the left, for drainage, but you're correct: This view makes it feel more tilted than it should. I'll look at how much correction might make it better. Thank you for your input.

In most instances, I prefer monochrome when it comes to a documentary photograph.  This one is no exception.

I understand that tilt ordinarily is an element to correct.  Here, in my opinion, it seems to amplify the impact of the shadows which comprise the most interesting element in the frame.

My best,

michael
