Traffic stopped for an air ambulance helicopter along Interstate 15 in California's

Mojave Desert. This is heavily cropped from a larger image. Note heat shimmer

distortion. Comments and feedback requested and sincerely appreciated.

Maria; you are very correct. I went back and saw that my white balance settings were off. I hadn't re-set before, since I hadn't planned this stop. I may play with this and see how it can be improved. Your comments are sincerely appreciated.

An intriguing image with lots of depth. I see the heat affects but before I knew that I was thinking that there was a technical issue with the image. I almost get a sense of an abstract image somewhat akin to a painting. I like the solitary driver in the foreground and this plays an important role to me.  I downloaded the image and looked at different crops but I don't think I achieved anything better than what you have. I will load it and you be the jury, judge and hangman.

Tony; I tried a number of crops, some similar to what you propose. The tighter crop is valid, and more clearly illustrates the effects and distortions of the heat shimmer, as well as making the lone driver a more powerful component. However, it changes the focus of the image away from the traffic and makes that lone driver the most important part of the picture. This is not necessarily bad. In fact, it is an interesting interpretation worthy of further exploration, but it does move away from my original intent significantly. Thank you for your feedback and input. It is very worthwhile.
