Just finished lunch, and a good sized herd of Mule Deer moved

through. Grabbed the D 750 / with old model 80-400VR, and out the

door. These are wild deer, and we don't feed them, but are

surprisingly hard to spook.

As always, critique or comments welcome, even ratings!

I would prefer more space around the deer especially to include the hooves. I would rate as a 4.

Ray, thanks!  You are right, I thought about it before I posted, and there are more in the gallery. I was kind of showing off the hand held results of my recently purchased old model 80-400 VR, which I am becoming really fond of.  I'll post the original.

Hi Sandy. Nice capture, good natural colours and detail. If I were to compose this I'd give more room in front of the deer and less behind it, which should give the image a more balanced look, at present it looks a little cramped. Great shot, keep up the good work, best regards Ken.

Ken, thanks! I posted most of the original version in the gallery, less a tree that was at the left edge.  It does work better.  I was trying to show some of the detail on the deer! Appreciate the suggestion.

Sandy; I know a few folks for whom this deer would literally be "for lunch". We have the same critters in our yard and neighborhood. We don't intentionally feed them, but they still eat all the plants the university extension says they're not supposed to eat. I guess the deer didn't read the pamphlet we left out for them. I think they ate it too. Nicely captured.

David, Thanks!

I once worked for a small company that invented, manufactured and sold a Deer Repellent -- it actually worked quite well, even on Hosta, aka "Deer Candy", unless of course the deer were really hungry.

The herd regularly works over our garden and fruit trees.
