i feel the grab real and the atmosphere authentic Jack and I really like the picture for the sense it offers of being there. Mostly i love the brother laying the groove on that street corner and I think he singlehanded owns the photograph, as he owns that corner with confidence and moves. The other cats truckin’on by sure seem cool and stylish, as is the picture, cool and stylish, but the dancing man is the man.

and we feel to be such a long long ways away from Osaka…

Thanks a lot for the comments, much appreciated.

Carlos - I completely agree about the guy on the corner and my production of this picture was aimed at giving him as much of a stage as he certainly deserves. I thought about doing a crop of just him alone but I figured it was important to put him in some sort of context, not just him bopping along all by himself. He's not the first thing you notice probably but like a good character actor, he steals the scene.

Pierre - Actually I shot this from a car as we stopped at the crosswalk to let those two guys cross the street. It was a lucky angle and the car ensured a quick getaway if we were spotted and someone took offense.

Hi Jack, What I like so much about your work is that you capture the essence of real life. With this capture it makes you wonder about the life story of these people and what makes a neighbourhood so different to another. The B/W is spot on for this capture. Best wishes. Sarah.

It is a great dramatic shot--until one gets to the right side, where the guy steals the show entirely.

I really like this one, Jack.  Each figure is a character study unto itself--or himself.
