You over worked  the sky. Almost posterized. The sepia  tone a  little  bet  to strong.

The  rest of the comments  going to  be a beautiful, fantastic , awesome, but  you never  learn  anything from them,  and  misleading for  your  development  of  progress.

Cheers

Hi Bela. Thank you for your very constructive and helpful comment. My dilemma is that I've not "worked" the sky. I've PP the image in Adobe Elements 14, doing a RAW conversion, then B&W, vignette, light/shadows adjustment and added the "hint of sepia", the sky is straight out of camera with no alterations to it. This is very frustrating as I fully appreciate your comment. Once again thank you for your help and advice, very best regards Ken.

Hi Ken. I understand  you reply. I asking you, if  you see,  what I see about the sky? The  clouds and  the sky smooth graduation is  missing,  looks   to  me, a very strong contras,  which is  working for the  building, highlighting the structure and the texture  in the bricks  but,  it  ruined  the sky  with the clouds. You have some  problem  turning the  image  to  B&W  or  the  scanning, or(?). Mind  you,  I seeing this  image on a EIZO calibrated  monitor. I noticing, you have a little  problem  with the  over exposed  sky at the  right of  the  little  spier. But  this  is  not a problem  with the  sky, it is  the  clouds look unnatural. Becouse  I'm all ready here,  I would suggest to  highlight the  composition  adding more  weight  to the  spier, by  cropping  1/4  of  the  left side. I like the image  very much  and all your  similar  images, but,  this  has a problem with the sky. IMHO. I would be  happy for you  if  you can correct this   problem.

And what is that two  edge  shaped  object sticking out  of the  cloud?

Greetings.

/general-comments/town%20hall%20cupol2Hi Bela. Yes your comments about the sky are correct. I'm at a disadvantage your excellent Eizo monitor must show far more detail than mine, also I've concentrated on the subjects in the foreground and overlooked the effects of my adjustments on the sky. I will try and follow your advice and re-edit the image, removing some of the faults, including too much contrast, sepia and detail in the sky. The two shaped objects you refer to are just part of the cloud formation, exaggerated by my editing. Thank you Bela, your observations are correct and very helpful to me. Best regards Ken.

I'm attaching a 2 minutes  edited  version of  your B&W  image  to demonstrate,  you can do in much more delicate way  of  the  editing this  image. The sky is  smooth and  nicely graduated,  the  funny  spot of  the  clouds is eliminated  and  the cropping  modified.  I noticed  you  original  shoot,  negative has  enough  place  at the  op of  the spier / tower  or  what ever  you call it.  Do not  crop  the  image to close to the  frame  of  the  picture, live  some  distance. It is a compositional rule.

Cheers.

Hi Bela. Thank you again for your time, expert help and guidance which is very much appreciated. Your version gives more impact, balance and is more pleasing to the eye. I've learnt a lot from your advice and help. Best regards Ken.
