I had the good fortune to participate in a three week trek through

Nepal this January. This was one of the first glorious views of

Annapurna (South) after the entire Himalaya range had been hidden in

thick smog for the first few days of the trip.

Thank you for stopping by, and your comments and suggestions are

always welcome.

This is an excellent shot Christoph. You were in one of the most evocative places of the globe and you caught a sensational moment of the day. Beautiful lights and colors. Bravo. All the best! MAx

A most alluring image!

The long exposure has given the impression of a silky veil covering the mountain top and the colors are beautiful !

Very well done!

Best Regards

Thank you Massimo, Mike and Alf,

it was a great morning when I took the picture. We got up in bitter cold, broke into a sweat hiking up the hundreds of stairs and froze again in the wind at the top of Poon Hill. :-) However, the light was magical. I feel blessed that I could be there and watch for an hour or so.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Christoph,  it sounds like you had an amazing adventure, and this image surely is a marvelous communicator of the awe of the mountains.  The mood, color, and lighting here are superb.  Terrific image.  Larry

Thank you Larry. Yes, it was an amazing trip. Unfortunately, taking off for three weeks just before the start of the semester has its downsides. I haven't even gotten to looking at most of my images yet. I processed this one and a few shots of our group for our alumni magazine, who want to cover the trek in their next issue. Everything else has been downloaded, backup-ed, etc.,  and will probably remain untouched for another week or so until I catch up with my work. But then ...  :-)

quite beautiful.

i think one of the many oft-ignored-but-crucial aspects of composition is how it works on a course scale - say if you vastly reduced the resolution and the brought it back up again. this one stands up to that test beautifully. best, jamie

Thank you Jamie! You're on to something. One of the techniques I learned about composition (a long time ago, so I don't recall from where) is to defocus the image. Nope, I didn't do that when taking this image. The light was way too amazing (and presumable short-lived) to "waste" it on little tricks like that.

:-)
