As the tide comes up,the water percolates through the cracks and

floods the ice sheet isolating the cabins set up for smelt

fishing.Thank you for your comment-Laurent

I like the composition.  The wide angle lens does a good job of emphasizing the foreground elements.  Not sure I'd brave the right hand fish hut.  Long way from shore, but perhaps the fishing is superior there. The lighting would have been warmer and a bit lower and more dramatic if you'd been there earlier in the day.  A Keeper in any case.  Best, Len.

It is impressive this piling up of ice from high tides. There must be a continual change along the shoreline. Hopefully the ice is thick enough for the fishing shacks! We are enjoying the whole series and we also appreciate the explanations with it.

Thank you for looking in and for the kind observation. You are right about the light....this was at high noon.I walked to that far cabin and it seemed indeed too close to open water,to my likings anyways....but the fishing must have been good. These cabins are continuously moving as the owners check the dept of water between the ice and the bottom to make sure the bottom parading smelt is within reach of the spear head.

Thank you so much. This is an annual happening here and these cabins appear as soon as the ice can take it....sometimes earlier with consequences as you well imagine. What suffer most from the cold are the fingers that get numb and camera shutters that jam.

Glad you are enjoying my annual walk around these cabins. The pile ups occur earlier as the ice sheet is starting to build up;later when it has formed as here, the tide will push it up causing the flooding on the edges and cracking farther out;the noise can be a little scary but these cracks don't open very much as the ice under the cabins is near 12 inches at this time.

Meilleures salutations-Laurent
