Tm, I know it well, but you had the good fortune of snow too! Curious what you used to light paint the foreground? I'm so glad you had a good time in my stomping grounds.

Thanks David! I was out there 2 days/nights in a row at 4,5AM in 9 degree Fahrenheit  to do startrails images but it's fullmoon and my remote timer sort of broke. So, I gave up on the 2nd day and decided to do some paint with light. The rock was painted with my Stanley $17 LED light from Walmart (it's a big flash light). I've done a bunch but only this one came out ok since it's my first time trying something like this. There's a lot of potential if the background was more spectacular, I think.

Thanks Saad! LOL, what you said probably sum it up well since this is the third time I've been here and there is still a lot I've not seen. I will be back for sure ... may be, in the summer when it's warmer  :-)

Tm, I personally recommend late spring or into the autumn. Temperatures are brutal in Arches and Canyonlands from late June through mid-September. We go in mid-October about every two years, and always have lovely weather. Timed with specific moon phases can make for some awesome star/moon photo opportunities. Winter, as you have seen, can also be a wonderful time, but it is harder for my wife to get away.
