Supriyo,

Very interesting shot and composition and one feels that protective element towards the rain.  Nice one and best wishes,

Supriyo this is a well executed good idea. I feel the protection of the umbrella through your camera/phone. It is a feeling of the world maybe going wild but I'm safe here. Good work.

Best Regards, Holger

Strong work, Supriyo, the wet world as glimpsed from beneath the sanctuary of an umbrella. A very intelligent and creative composition that hides and reveals in equal measure. It reminds me of the old show business maxim: always leave them begging for more. This one goes into my favorites

wonderful concept, supriyo! very realistic, yet a well done stylized composition... the the naturalism of the rain is perfect and yet the creative composition is so effective! in my faves... i would give it a "7" i think! ;-} dp

Creative and original. The message of rain with the drops on the umbrella and the shiny streets come through loud and clear. Congrats on a very fine image. While I am not familiar with the quality of an image taken with an i-phone, it comes through clearly here that you don't need expensive equipment to make a brilliant image.  All the best,

Dear Chris, Bachir, Holger, Jack, Donna, Svetlana, Bjorn and Tony, I am overwhelmed by your support for this photo. This was one of my "daring" experiments, both physically, and intellectually. I was holding my lunch in one hand and the camera/phone in the other, while supporting the umbrella with my shoulder. If there was a huge gust of wind, the umbrella would have flown away (luckily didn't happen).

It was challenging to determine just the right balance as per the proportion of the umbrella to the outside scene in the image goes. I think there are more opportunities to experiment here. One thing I really wanted to do was use a wider angle (like 24mm or so) to show more of the umbrella shape, but iPhone is limited in that respect.

However, I was happy to be inside the protection of the umbrella, and that's what is reflected in the image (as many of you pointed out).
