Ken and Jack - Thanks.  It is one of the few areas in Nevis where you can find black sand and that is usually associated with volcanic activity in the distant past.  Nevis is quite famous for its Volcanic Sulfur Hot water springs and over the centuries, thought to have healing powers.

The spring water, which gets up to 108°F, is said to contain minerals of medicinal value with some claiming that bathing here cured them of rheumatism, gout, and other chronic illnesses. Aristocrats, noblemen and other dignitaries would sail to Nevis from other islands, America and even as far away as Europe to avail themselves of these very same magical waters.

That water was too damn hot for me to enter beyond my knees!  Moving higher than my thighs would entail certain risks that I was not prepared to take (*_*).  Meanwhile, the locals splashed around in it like it was a lukewarm bathtub.

Fascinating seascape and you timed the splash perfectly.  Your summary is both educational and, uh, enlightening ;-).

Note:  I wondered where you'd gone and found that some gremlin had unchecked the "follow" button.  All is right now and you're back on the radar.... Mike

Mike - Thanks and glad to be back on your list.

Larry - this image is from a previous year. I found it in my archives.  When I am in a location that I think has potential, I usually shoot a bunch of shots but none caught the power of the wave like this one while having a trail of water leading out to the sea.

We had no snow in Montreal for Christmas but now we have a ton of snow and it is still coming down.  I trust you are back from your recently planned "C" trip.
