Birch trees and beautiful fall colors. From a recent hiking trip to

the White Mountains (of NH - not CA). Thanks for visiting, and I

really apppreciate your comments and suggestions.

Hi Christophe,

This is well composed, but it looks like was taken on a gray day. Since there are no shadows, it appears, imo, flat. You could maybe help that a little by adjusting in light/shadows and or contrast just a bit. A slight increase in saturation could bring out the beautiful colors of the leaves and contrast them against the white of the birch.

Love these fall shots.

I don't mind the fact that it's a little flat. I like the colors, and it's a nice base for adding some special effects. As a stand alone image in it's current state though, I don't know if it has a place on a wall.

Very attractive image. The bark of these trees makes them especially beautiful. I also think you could gain a lot by increasing the saturation, contrast a little. Best regards.

Thank you guys!

It was indeed taken on a rather gray day. I toyed with the idea of increasing saturation and contrast a bit, but then I decided not to. I processed that image after my recent trip to Utah, where every (OK, probably almost every) commercially available image of sandstone and sky is blatantly oversaturated. This here is a rather different landscape, the trees are not grand, the views down in the valley are restricted, it rained a lot, and I thought I preserve that peaceful, quiet, "normal" feel by keeping it close to what you see here, and what I think I saw many weeks ago.

So, stay posted, because I might go back, pull that image from my archive drive and mess with it a bit. Maybe saturating the reds and yellows a bit. Even if I don't - I really appreciate your suggestions. They make me think about my images and how they are seen by others.
