thadley 15 Posted December 5, 2015 Early in my life in the Caribbean, there was a traveling barber who came to your house with a small briefcase - looked like a miniature suitcase, something that was referred to locally as a 'grip'. Outside on a chair, with sheet thrown around you in a nice Caribbean breeze, I ended up with a hair cut. A few years later someone established a barbershop in the town. That traveling barber was an Indian from India. Many of his genre, had settled in a very fertile and mountainous part of the island. Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted December 7, 2015 Thank you for sharing that nice story.A scene as this one was very common in Indonesia and the travelling barber was also a welcomed visitor in many isolated villages.Back in the early fifties, I lived in a small fishing village with no barbershop and hair was done by dad or mom until we moved to a town where L'ttle John the barber took over.Meilleures salutations-Laurent Link to comment
