kevin_foster 0 Posted October 10, 2003 nice model, i really enjoy his expression. very tense, very intense. the grain is effective for this photo alone, but is more that the others in it's series. Also, more colour would be nice(becuase of others in series), but alone is great. Awesome photo! Link to comment
koval 0 Posted October 10, 2003 Thanks .. I see your point about the colour version. Regards PK . Link to comment

abintraphoto 0 Posted October 11, 2003 The little white line behind his ear (lower left corner) keeps drawing my eye. I wonder also how it would look if the scratches were in many directions vs. generally in the same direction. Other than that I would change nothing. Very creative and well executed work as usual PK. I especially like how you torment your subjects with golf jokes until they achieve this certain 'look' .................................... (-; Link to comment
koval 0 Posted October 11, 2003 I can see the line you mentioned..something to do with the background..The scraches..I will try it nex time. .why not :)) The rest is my little secret . :)) Link to comment
owen_omeara 1 Posted October 12, 2003 Piotr A killer image. The negative space works as well as the face in the lower left corner. Great job. -Owen Link to comment

armindo_lopes 1 Posted October 12, 2003 Original work and a fantastic strength on the face. Kind of image that transmits a feeling... I mean, there is something else beyhond the image and, this is not easy to transmit. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Piotr, you and Chris Blaszczyk are both masters at making (not capturing, but creating) images of unusual grit and emotion. Your subjects are masterfully controlled so that your imagery is very powerful and very convincing. Link to comment
berniek 0 Posted October 12, 2003 This reminds me of some of Mortensen's work. You do manage to create some edgy portraits. It's appreciated. Link to comment
miran_jursic 0 Posted October 24, 2003 IMO the best in the series with this model. The eyes, grain and composition create a 7/7 photo. Thanks for displaying your work. Link to comment
nicki_barron 0 Posted November 24, 2003 This is fantastic as is your ENTIRE portfolio. I am impressed with the diversity and creativity of your work. Inspiring and downright awesome! Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted November 24, 2003 "Let me see your other war face. . . . You don't scare me. Work on it!"--Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann to The Joker in _Full Metal Jacket_. I guess that I would have to say something similar. Some of your other shots from this series are simply more convincing, although there is the classic of the guy "practicing" his grimace in front of a mirror, which is so obviously self-conscious and even narcissistic as to be interesting as a case study in pathology--almost a parady of your own work in this series, and brilliantly done. My favorite in the immediate series would be number three, although it seems to portray agony or horror rather than anger. It simply seems more authentic, although I know that authenticity is not going to be the measure of the success of these photos, since you are clearly working with models rather than inmates. I am still sitting here scratching my head wondering why the elves homed in on this four-shot series, since there are so many truly beautiful shots in this folder, and your work overall is overwhelming. Not only are there more beautiful shots in your folder, but there are more interesting ones as well, in my opinion. Even so, congratulations on PoW and a disturbingly memorable image. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted November 24, 2003 I forgot to mention the "image" over the subject's head. Perhaps it, too, is a face, perhaps a woman's face, and the striations could even be her hair blown by the wind--or it could just be another void into which the man is staring in his imagination. The image is definitely more interesting the longer one looks at it, and you clearly put that enormous space overhead for a reason. Perhaps it is a woman up there--someone he loves and wants to kill. Ah, love! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 24, 2003 What? No autmn leaves? J/K. Piotr's work is attractive, to me, because it is bold, attentive, and mixes in disease, moldyness, dementia, and human expression (all in a fresh and good way). This one in particular is excellent. Very talented finisher. Link to comment
erikgauger 0 Posted November 24, 2003 Putting this man at the bottom of the photo also works in the sense that you feel he is weighed down. Ingenious! Link to comment
jos www.inpix.biz 0 Posted November 24, 2003 The Eyes have a hint of a smile to me. Since the viewers eye travels from bottom left to the upper corners your photograph leaves one with a sense of an emptiness and wondering. All this emotion and visual tension at the bottom which dissapates to a scratchy, hazy top which has a steamy 'image' (?) for the viewer to reflect on. Could the steam be coming from his anger? Is the steam his thoughts, his tension? The tones and roughness (grainy, scratchy dirty) contribute to a very moving photo. Congrats on the POW. Link to comment
ben.goossens 0 Posted November 24, 2003 Hi Piotr, a very emotional, strong image you made there, I love it like it is...no comments...only admiration. This image reminds at the Rusian photographer Elena Martynynyuk, I met in Linz( Austria) during the gala evening of the Austrian Super Circuit. She is also very good to in this style. Have a look at: http://www.google.be/search?q=cache:bfCdAXUUkiAJ:www.fotof orum.lu/portfolios_eafiap/martynyuk_elena/elena.htm+Elena+Ma rtynyuk&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8 Best regards, Ben Link to comment
morey_kitzman 0 Posted November 24, 2003 I am not much of a fan of contrived emotions. Unless I have the wrong impression and indeed Peter has managed to capture this individual's moment of true pathos, to me it seems more of "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing". This is not to say that the composition and textural elements are not interesting, just that it evokes little emotional response to this viewer. Link to comment
