LOL! Buy some Merlot first and catch the first flight from Alabama to California  :-) - I still think this Lamb stuff is gamey ...

We will be there too! Lamb is my favorite flavor of all meats (V), we raise our own lambs and we never detect any gamy flavor, but our taste buds react all individually!

OMG! you raise your own lamb, that's .. totally wicked! :-) - I am quite sure it's gamey because I don't know now to cook it right. At least, it's palatable since I could not eat Lamb before and this recipe from epicurious seems good (but simple).  I once lived in York, Pennsylvania and when I left the company the folks I worked with gave me some Venison jerky that they hunted themselves  which tastes wonderful.

Not necessarily your fault- much "lamb" sold in the US is quite a lot older than actual lamb, defined as less than one year old. Imported lamb can also be strange. It also depends on what the lamb was fed- if forced to eat large amounts of grain- in order to gain weight rapidly- it can create off flavors. For the best, look for grass fed (better even is organic grass fed)  and cuts that aren't huge, meaning the animal was smaller at slaughter. Best would be to locate a local farmer that could supply you. Enjoy!

We also raise our own goats for meat (and cheese) :)

Wow, .... do you plant all your vegetable too ? /jk   My parent who passed away a few years back use to raise all sort of chicken, rabit and vegetable on their 14,000 sf lot (not very big) and we used to have fresh butchered animal now and then. It helps me to know that chicken has feather and know how to kill/dressed the animal (unlike the young folks like my kid who thinks chicken comes naked from Trader Joe)  :-)

TmJ: although I dont like very much lamb, this photo makes me want to take a flight to USA and join you all for the meal (I'll take a good portuguese red wine!)...may I? (LOL)...

Come on over Joao !  You can bring the wine but California have very good wine also :-) - I drink To-kill-ya though ( Tequilla) / jk! - Lamb is not my thing either but I had very good lamb before and that lead me to believe that I don't know how to cook it or not getting the right lamb like Greg said.

Thanks TmJ, it would be a nice party for my 60 birthday (I came to this world in the 16th of November of 1955!). Please note: I know that California wine is good, but as a "good" portuguese, I must say that our wines are also very good - LOL- (and they are indeed!...). Best regards my friend!

LOL, Portugal is on my bucket list of places to visit .. along with Spain. With the recent act of terrorism it's hard to convice the wife to go to Europe again though. It took her a long time to decide to take our last trip a few months back. People tend to work with emtion, I think as I believe that once a target is terrorized, it's actually safe for a while due to heavy security.

TmJ: terrorism is a very serious problem for all of us...from Paris to Lisbon is about 2000Km (a long distance for a european...) but we never know where will be the next crazy people attack...Portugal is still a safe country, I hope things don't change...So: welcome!

Hi Joao! I feel for European! Many countries open up the heart to accept the refugees to get this in return. So much evil in this world!  ... one that bite the hands that feed them!
