David, I personally find the rocks and foreground a little bit too bright - though i am sure others will disagree :) The crooked tree is a great addition to the image. Just my two cents.

Beautiful night image! I am going to Zion, Arch & Canyonland for X-mas and hope to get shot like this (never done this before).  I like the composition of the lone tree in the foreground, red mountain backdrop and bright star in the sky. TFS!

Well taken!  Great detail in the mountain and lovely colours :o)  The bright star is pretty cool too.  Not really sure about the tree.  If it was me, I'd clone it out.  But that is just my opinion.  Stunning shot still the same :o)
