We're very sorry to hear of your loss- (really) but you seemed more pissed than inconsolable..

At least it died fat and well fed! You have memorialized him well in all these shots!

Thanks for that. It does read that way, huh.:) Actually, it bothered me a lot more than I thought it would. Weird coincidence, but during the night that he died my other chameleon spent his first night in the wild, and naturally it was the coldest night of the season. I actually was beginning to think I wouldn't ever find him, but after going into all of the neighbor's yards and searching about 10 of the 24 hours he was missing, I finally found him high in a tree. He started out in my fig tree with a barricade around it and he must have climbed to the end of a branch and jumped out to clear it. I've never seen him do anything like that, so he must have known how to get to freedom.

Strange for me as a lifetime hunter, and hard for people who don't hunt to understand, but these stories hit a soft spot.  I had to dispose of a bird that flew into our window just this morning and I felt a helpless sadness.  Don't ask about when a family pet dies, it's very traumatic.  An excellent shot and remembrance...
