There are several elements of this image that appeal to me. It seems to convey anxiety, desperation, and possibly curiosity regarding what exists beyond there glass on the part of the subject. Also, the additional blurriness that appears behind the subject suggests considerable ambiguity. Finally, I like the gradations in tonality from left to right.

In my opinion, Paul should be congratulated for producing an image of this quality.

The gradation of tone from left to right is something that effectively completes the image and provides the viewer with a curiosity regarding what might lie beyond the subject in the dark. Very different from his first POW selection of a senior lady sitting by the door to another room behind her. Many of Paul's photos show this originality of perception coming from his very good sense of observation. If the file size permits it could be a compelling large B&W print.

I think this is an extraordinary image, taking you to a place in the mind where one might not wish to go. Well done Paul, I'm stunned.
