The Tarr Steps are a 17 span clapper bridge across the River Barle

in the Exmoor National Park, Somerset, England. A bridge made of

unmortared stone slabs, at 55 metres it's the longest of it's kind in

Britain. All comments very welcome, thank you for viewing.

A fine image of an interesting structure, lovely colour and framing. You can see a similar structure in a photo from my portfolio, here: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17993496&size=lg

This is a couple of kilometres downriver from Allariz, province of Ourense, Galicia, Spain. The bridge is considerably wider than the portion seen here. There is another such structure a couple of kilometres upriver from Allariz. Both were used, I believe, for transporting grain by mule to adjacent mills. Allariz and its surroundings is one of the most beautiful areas I know in Spain. Best regards.

Hi Jon. Thanks for the detailed comment. I've viewed your image and yes a very similar structure in a similar setting, with a great subject (the bride). The comparison of the bridges and researching such subjects adds even more interest to a great hobby. Best regards Ken.
