Pinklather 465 Posted October 6, 2015 We've been thinking alike. I've spent 3 days in the last 3 wks, shooting at cemeteries, taken by some of the history. Its turning into a bit of a project. As of this writing, 16 scans waiting to be processed. Sunday, was at a historic cemetary w/ substantial section of military from Spanish/American war. More than half the major streets in Portland, OR were named for people w/ fancy monuments in this place. One shot was a rather humble stone for Virgil Earp (brother of Wyatt & part of the famed fight) I like the theme (natural/eternal, temporal/eternal, mindfulness of destiny, how we cope w/ mortality, vanity). It seems so fitting that many of the old country churches have the graveyards on the grounds. I don't know how others will respond to the image, but I like it quite a bit. It HAD to be mono. (I'm shooting TM-100 & HP5 for it). The 'sea' of stones is powerful, as are the mature trees. The winding path, leading to and through the stones - leads the eye to face the future. 'Just a mindful composition, well executed. Thx. for posting. Link to comment
