It was midday and I don't usually take many photos at that time. I decided to take a 'nature trail' to scout out potential photo locations and for exercise. When I got out of my car I had left my camera bag there. I had not walked more than 10 steps when I had this deep urge to go back and get my equipment.  I followed that instinct and was able to get this shot deep into a forested area with tall trees and a couple of small lakes. I could just imagine how this would look on a foggy morning but I am settling for this one at the moment.

Larry - yes I did. This time last year I was able to get some decent maple color but I would say that only about 15% were not green. I will just have to return at a later date.  I did find some color with this one. I have never seen ferns with this kind of color and the ground was a spongy moss that was a mix of red and yellow. I did not walk with my tripod so I am not sure if the moss shots are worth sharing - will see.

Joscelyn, Mike and Erik - Thanks.   I have probably explored about 10 percent of this very large park and and was very pleasantly surprised to find these ferns. The ground was covered with a very soft, spongy growth and I took a snapshot of it which I will attach. I did not have my tripod with me on this nature trail but when I return in October I hope to capture that growth more seriously.

With its 375 acres, six great rivers and 400 lakes and streams, Parc national du Mont-Tremblant is a canoer's paradise. It's a rich amalgam of Québec's natural and historic heritages, being the largest and oldest park in the network. This wilderness is so vast that it is home to 40 mammal species, including the wolf. There is also the Via ferrata du Diable, an intermediate activity between hiking and climbing that will let you discover the park's mountains in a way you could otherwise only dream about.  Parc national du Mont-Tremblant is open year-round and has something for everyone.

Tony,

I really like this image, a good decision to include a portion of the forest at the top.

By the way, I think 375 acres is my ancestral farm, according to Wikipedia the park is 1,510 km².

Beautiful colors Tony. I like the golden ferns contrasted by the more bluish trees. As an aside: 375 acres seems way too small. 375 square miles?

Jim - thanks for stopping by. You are correct about the size - I went back to my source and it says 373,200 acres.  PS The trail starts in the parking lot of lac Chat.
