Not only a perfect image, but the stretch and the expression (if ducks can have expression) are priceless.  I like how the curved stump mimics that "Dolly" chest and also confines our view.  Good stuff... Mike

Yah, the expressions!  They all look like they know something I don't.  And they're likely right.  :-)   Best, Len.

Thanks for the vote of confidence though I think Ducks Unlimited likely have all the duck shots they need.  Still, it might be worth a try.  Stay tuned!  Best, Len.

Always nice to hear from you.  Bright overcast days are nearly always good for revealing rich colours. This bird put on a yoga demonstration for me.  :-)  Best, Len.

Sometimes, if the ducks aren't in the mood, this can be considered an action shot.  :-)  Jay Maisel would consider this a 'gesture', an important element in his shots.  Keeps things from becoming too static.  Thanks for your interest.  Best, Len

If this was a "gesture" I wonder what message it was trying to convey : - )

I love the way you have captured the scene with the natural framing, and very little colour except for the main protagonist!

Very well done Len!

Best Regards

You know how you feel when you've spent too much time at the computer doing post operations?  Need to stretch!  I don't think this bird has anything more profound in mind. It had been on that log for a while.   Light was from nature's 'softbox', overcast skies.  To be totally truthful, I may have boosted the colours in Photoshop a tad but I did take full advantage of the natural wood frame. Thanks for the visit.  The internet saves us a lot of travel expense.  :-)  Best, Len.

Nice to get your take on this offering. Ducks tend to be not as skittish as other birds, my experience at least.  They are so easy to photograph just sitting on the water so the challenge is to catch them performing some kind of action.  This is the best I could get from this laid back hen.  :-)  Best, Len.
