Yes, this is very surprising - but then again I was not aware of it.  Perhaps it is their devout faith that influences this custom. Good capture Jim. Never seen one like it on PN before!

Jim ,I am a Muslim ,and a visitor for mosques for so many years in my life,and i would like to tell you with certainty that this very nice looking order is not at all without its painful penalty,though very infrequently ,and only for some very unfortunate persons, show theft and shoe exchange .
