Phil_Light 776 Posted September 6, 2015 Keep em coming. I also have a huge backlog of transparencies and even some color negs which need to be scanned-in. It is really hard to get a good quality scan with a color negative. I am so tempted to have a lab reprint them and then scan from there. So, I applaud you for getting the old film imagery out there. Nice composition and balance btw. Also is that dirt coming through the falls after a heavy rain or something? Link to comment
sjmurray 33,408 Posted September 7, 2015 Thanks Philip! I ran this in the "Weekly Post Processing Challenge" in the Digital Darkroom forum just to see how others would process this. There are some interesting results! I have a new monitor and I'm still playing with brightness and contrast levels. I think this image is a little too light at this juncture. Does it look OK with good blacks on your monitor? Link to comment
sjmurray 33,408 Posted September 7, 2015 Philip, I don't know exactly why there is brown water in the river. If you google other images, many also have brown water. Maybe it is iron in the water or dirt? Maybe its just dark brown rocks showing through. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted September 18, 2015 I love places like this and could just pitch a tent and stay awhile. Just for an exercise I set a white point on the brightest portion of whitewater at the bottom of the fall and then backed it off to 90% (because it's not pure white). On my calibrated monitor there is only a slight difference, primarily a lose of yellow. See attached. Brown water in a waterfall is usually just mud runoff, primarily caused by heavy rainfall upstream. Thanks for sharing this one, a beautiful scene... Mike Link to comment
