Dieter, I love the color contrast between the blue mountains and the red tail lights. The curves of the road are also very graceful.  Beautiful image!

This is a shot that I feel should have been more exciting than it actually is. Mountains (Alps?) with twisty road and light trails - sounds the sort of subject that sends photographers' rushing to get their tripod. I find this result a little underwhelming. The composition concentrates your vision almost exclusively on the bottom half of the picture, leaving arguably the most thrilling part, the mighty peaks, not included. Then the late dusk has not provided enough shadow detail to provide us with further interest in the dark pass. What I think was needed was a higher viewpoint so the road, that pass, and the mountains are more satisfactorily included in the field of vision at one time. At present, the top of the image is light, and the bottom is dark which splits the brain's attention to the detriment of the image. Perhaps this was the only shot Dieter could take. Perhaps there might have been better turnouts from which one could have taken a shot, but I was not there and so don't know. I do (of course) realize that one has to make the best of what is available in these situations: sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

I'm going to take a guess that it's the Stelvio pass in North Italy - a brilliant piece of road, and photographed to death during the day. But I've seen a lot less photos this way, which is to me the most charming element of the photo. It is a different take on something fairly known (if all my assumptions are right). It works well, mostly thanks to the remaining detail in the mountains and the (very low key) details in the foreground, which give the image some depth and shape beyond its graphic nature.

This was a good idea and should have worked. The sky is blue and I can't help thinking that I would rather see more of the scenic beauty than a lighting trick. I think that this kind of shot works best in an urban setting.

A slight opening up of the shadows in PS would help to improve the effect of this interesting image. The most unsuccessful visual element is the duo of the two vertical signposts at the extreme left and the photo I think is greatly improved by cropping them out and thereby slightly reducing the width of the image and creating a more abstract rendition of the road. An intriguing composition that was well seen.
