lynnemass 10 Posted August 26, 2015 An interesting subject which would be more powerful with less sky. I don't think you want the sky to be your subject. The soldiers would be more prominent if you cropped most of the sky out and made the image panoramic. And perhaps BW. Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted August 26, 2015 Lynne, I appreciate your thoughts on this image. Actually, I don't think the image has much merit at all, and you have helped me see this. Thanks. Larry Link to comment
thadley 14 Posted September 1, 2015 I would not say that the image has no merit. But I do see where Lynne is coming from. You have soldiers, canons and a very light colored sky that attracts the eyes. In my mind, the main war-like subject deserves a more ominous sky so I converted to BW and made the sky a bit darker. Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted September 1, 2015 Thanks, Tony. I still think fixing this image is a stretch. I find your conversion a bit too dark. Still, thanks for the contribution. Larry Link to comment
longroute 0 Posted September 13, 2015 I like this scene. It looks like they are waiting for something to happen, one fancies there is a vast panorama beyond the wall and this create a sense of expectancy. I also like the soft tones which create a almost intimate mood (which is lost in the B&W version. Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted September 13, 2015 Donato, Thanks for looking at this image. You are correct; there is a vast area along the St. Lawrence River that this fort protects. The adjacent area called the Plains of Abraham is a former battle site. I think the image is OK, not a favorite. I took the image because the soldiers, who are on active duty, did appear to be just lolling around. Larry Link to comment
