Wat Sri Pan Ton in Nan, Thailand (larger available)

The main feature of Wat Sri Pan Ton (วัดศรีพันต้น), an ancient temple in Nan

province, is its elaborate carving and gilding on the exterior of the main building.

The inside is also highly decorated with many colourful murals on the walls and

ornately carved roof decorations. The temple also houses the largest

Mahakatyayana statue in the province.

The detail is fabulous. All this carving is remarkable. Makes you wonder just how much the 'gilting' is worth. I wonder if the weather affects it. Makes me wonder about the inside as well.
