Must have been 30 or 40 ducks in the small pond that evening.  Lot's of opportunities for some action including this shot.  It was about an hour from sunset, thus the low warm light.  Twinkle in the eye a happy coincidence of the low light and position of the bird.  I'll take luck!  :-)  Best, Len.

Hi Len, you've got a great catch, with nice detail and sharpness, and the right speed to freeze the moment.

Kind Regards,

Rosario.

Thanks for your observations.  I feel that things came together here for a successful shot.  I spent almost 2 hours here & this was, in my opinion, the best shot of the evening.  Even with high shutter speeds the panning technique is still important so as  to keep the subject in the frame.  Best, Len.

Yah, the water drops.  Nice bonus.  Duck had just taken off from the pond & did a fly-past for me.  :-)  Best, Len.

Taken about 1 hr before sunset.  What is generally referred to as the 'sweet light'.  Thanks for your visit. Best, Len.

Panning practice payoff!  :-)  Taken in the 'sweet light' on a sunny day about an hour from sunset.  I liked this one enough to make a print of it.  But I flipped it horizontally to have the bird flying to the right.  Thanks for joining in.  Best, Len

I can't understand how it's made! Flash on birds?! However, very unusual, let's say original and good looking, Len!

Best regards

No flash used here!  See 'Details' for exposure information.  Just the right time of day and a bit of luck with the panning.  I was on a slightly elevated platform so the duck was actually a bit below me.  Thanks for your visit.  Best, Len.
