A mom in an airport waiting area flips her daughter upside down, and the

daughter reacts with appropriate glee. Your ratings, observations and

comments are invited and most welcome. If you rate or critique harshly or very

critically, or wish to make a remark please submit a helpful and constructive

comment; please share your photographic knowledge to help improve my

This is a little different from your usual work, a little more impressionistic but equally as effective. The kid is great, spread out like that upside down. This seems a moment of sudden fright but it's of the innocent variety found in children's adventure stories, the kind where everything comes out all right in the end.

I  try to look for 'human moments' in 'street format' and when I can, post those, but sometimes I see something that is different and compelling, such as this photo.

Whether it's liked or not is not so important as I like it very much and I find it very compelling (though I'm glad you do too).  It's just one of those shots that you 'have to take' and figure out what to do with later, even if it doesn't fit in with a particular genre -- there's always a place for photos like this in my portfolio.

Thanks for a kind and generous evaluation which completely understands this posting.

John, did you zoom in during the exposure? I think the blur really enhances the image. It shows  the action while turning the image a bit more abstract. Great capture!

Frankly I have no memory of the physical actions involved in the taking of this photo but the evidence of whether or not I zoomed is clearly seen from the shoes in the background; they're pretty much in focus and show no evidence of zooming.

It was the child who was being moved not the lens elements, so far as I can discern, although some sleuth can disprove me on further examination.

I agree, the blur's the thing here; this is one case in which having everything sharp and 'in focus' would not have benefited the photo compared to this blurred version which demonstrates the motion more clearly.

Thanks for a helpful comment.
