The work is fine especially the beautiful marble floor but where is the tree my friend? PD I very much like the sky in this image, good choice.

Best Always,  Holger

The desert sand must be ungodly hot, since heel of the torch bearer's left foot is elevated.  He obviously has adapted to his environment; he knows how to step lightly.

On a more serious note, I identify the torch bearer as Diogenes.  Legend has it, as you know, that he wandered the streets of Athens with a lamp, searching for an honest person.  If the scene this image depicts is any indication, his quest is a dismal failure.  He is alone in his world, with only the sand, the sky, and the structure behind him for company.  Truly a sad commentary if applied to our world's present circumstances . . .

Call this image's story a legend, call it a metaphor, or call it an allegory - the nomenclature is immaterial.  Its content forces us to think.

My best,

michael

Thank you, Holger!

It is hardly a marble, but you have the right to see it as whatever you will! The tree is not there because I wanted this one to be pure desert spectacle and I may say because some people were not very satisfied with its presence on each and every picture of mine, ha!

Long time no see, Michael!

Thank you for your thoroughly elaborated vision of what's on my picture! Never occurred to me that this athletic guy with remains of chains on his wrists might be interpreted as the poor Diogenes! I aimed at something that will remind of celebrating the victory in a desert  of place only with baroque buildings and statues, it refers to a specific situation!

Patsy, thank you very much!

You only didn't say that only I could do such picture, ha!

Thank you, Karl!

Depends on how long you want it to burn, ha!

Mon ami Nebojsa!

I don't believe anyone! Thank you for your visit and mysterious comment!

Thank you, Gianni!

Maybe the one who made it wanted to imitate Riace, who knows!

Hi, Gail!

Torch time, the expression I invented and it is supposed to say time for celebration!

Thank you for your precious visit(s) and nice comment(s)

Nice to see this!

I am reading now a philosophy book, Peter Sloterdijk, and the importance of training for athletes.

Welcome and thank you, Jim!

For the finally visiting me and the connecting my pictures with madmen!

I could hardly remember who was Mad Max! It was Mel Gibson if my old mind serves me well!

Thank you, thank you, it's a compliment for this dummy, ha!

Cheers to that
