robertbrown 1 Posted October 7, 2003 Comments, ratings appreciated on print--too dark? Obviously trying for that moody Celtic sort of thing, but may have gone too far. Thanks. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted October 7, 2003 I like the color dodge you added. It really created a cool effect. Photo might be a little dark but I like it this way. I think it adds mystery to your subject which is a part of the subject to begin with. You gave it life. Very nicely done! Link to comment
mauricio alcaraz carbia 0 Posted October 7, 2003 I do not think it is too dark. I really like the soft tones with those little bright flowers in perfect harmony. Very well done. The sky is perfect too! Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted October 7, 2003 The mood of the image is affected by the darkness. There is drama portrayed here that a lighter print might not have carried off. In the catalog with the Ansel Adams at 100 exhibit John Szarkowski points out how his printing style got darker and more contrasty as he got older. Many of the early prints of famous images were lighter and airier. The darker images were more popular but might not have matched the original vision of the time and place. Link to comment
simon_meehan 0 Posted October 8, 2003 This is classic.I knew exactly where it was from the thumbnail. YOU`ve captured such a nice `highlighting` cloud sequence too. This IS the atmosphere of the place at certain times of the year,so in my opinion it`s NOT TOO DARK Don`t forget this place is as old as the PYRAMIDS! IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY.Thnx.S. Link to comment
