Nice catch Len. I like the pattern and detail in the wing nearest the viewer. Very good timing.

I was following him in but the position of the wings is likely pure luck.  Luck is an important element in BIF photography.  (for me at least)  Thanks for expressing your approval.  Best, Len.

"Throw enough spaghetti at the wall" - Anonymous.  This gull reminded me of my grandchildren of a certain age;  one is happily occupied and the other wants in on that location.  Here is the shot that came 1\4 sec. later where another gull was just sitting & minding his own business.  Thanks for your visit & comment.  It's what completes this site for me.  Best, Len.

Again with all sharp and don't see flash used! Bravo, Len!

Cheers

P.S. I saw the metadata, fast ISO speed and therefore exposure time shorter!

No, no flash.  Some Photoshop hanky panky perhaps.  :-) I was practicing with my D5100 & 55-200mm kit lens to try to improve my auto focus 'sharp image' rate.  These guys are great for that.  I find that, within reason, the larger the subject is in the frame the better the results.  Small birds in flight are a real problem for me.  By the time I find them in the frame they're out of range.  Thanks for your thoughts.  Best, Len.

Your bird images are becoming comparable to those of a fellow PN photographer, Linh Dinh, whose osprey images used to dominate the critique forum a few years ago.! Keep up the good work!

Len,

Excellent timing and great details on that 'unsuspicious' gull. You definitely go beyond your equipment capabilities!

Happy to get your take on this offering.  I had some fun in the process.  It's good to push the limits of your gear (but I'd really like to get to push the limits of that new Nikon 200-500mm) :-)  Best, Len.

From the position of the head to the hanging feet and outstretched wings, it's a work of art Len! Love the vertical composition too! Best, Rob

Most of the 'art' in this depended on the crop.  To me it seemed a no-brainer.  Thanks for your input.  It means a lot.  Best, Len

A beautiful landing..................on top of another seagull who was minding his own business. (see the link in my reply to Mike, above)  :-)  Many thanks for your input here.  Makes the site worthwhile.  Best, Len.

Thanks for the positive review & welcome to Photo.net.  Now all you have to do is post some of your work and sit back & watch the reviews come pouring in.  :-)  Best, Len.
